About Foqos

Foqos is a privacy-focused, open-source focus app that helps you stay productive. While NFC tags are recommended for a seamless experience, you can also manually toggle focus modes. No accounts, no data collection, no tracking.

Getting Started

  1. Open Foqos and allow focus mode permissions (these stay on your device)
  2. Optional but recommended: Purchase any standard NFC tag from your preferred supplier
  3. Either tap your phone on an NFC tag or use the app interface to start focusing
  4. Use the same method to exit focus mode when you're done

Technical Details

  • Optional NFC support (compatible with Type 2/4/5 tags)
  • Works with iOS 17.0 or later
  • Zero network connectivity required - works completely offline
  • No data collection or storage - everything stays on your device

Keep Screen Time Access Enabled

On iOS 26.4 or later, a trusted person can set a separate Screen Time passcode to make Foqos harder to disable. Older devices can use the Foqos Block Shortcut instead. Compare both setup options →

Known Issues

There is a known iOS system issue affecting the FamilyActivityPicker that may cause occasional crashes or freezing when:

  • Opening app category drop-downs
  • Scrolling through listed apps while categories are open
  • Using the search functionality

This is a system-level issue that affects all apps using Screen Time features on recent iOS 17 versions. Apple is aware of the problem, and we are actively monitoring for a fix. In the meantime, if you experience this issue, please:

  1. Close and reopen the app
  2. Ensure you're running the latest version of iOS
  3. If the issue persists, you can try setting up focus modes again
